DESIGN

Great homes are created by details.  Typically, we use or our in-house log or timber designer to design your home. Our experience building both log and timber frame homes has allowed us to refine the details of each, as well as combine the two styles.  We can also recommend two other design firms that specialize in log and timber design.

First, we seek a floor plan that will suit your needs and your budget.  Please have a look at our Log Home Plans and Timber Home Plans that can be downloaded in .pdf format.  These are our stock plans, and can be refined to suit your needs.  We welcome other plans, and are pleased to create custom floor plans upon request.

Second, we detail your home plan.  Log and timber frame home plans require construction details to be well defined.   Our goal is to create homes that make efficient use of our resources, and minimize construction waste. These details also ensure that your home will be energy efficient and will easily accommodate finishings.  Typically, log and timber frame homes require structural engineering approval.  We offer these services, depending on the location of the project.

Last, a set of construction drawings are issued, which are submitted for local building approval.  Once approved, the construction of our handcrafted log or timber home can begin.
