Working with the City of Kimberley & ISL Engineering, Tyee designed and built 3 covered log & timber pedestrian bridges over Mark Creek in Kimberley, BC. The project features two paired log trusses using traditional wood to wood joinery, reinforcement with steel thrust plates, fully threaded timber screws and concealed metal tie rods. We worked closely with wood lot owners and a community wood sort to procure several Douglas Fir logs up to 74' long. The three spans range from 52'-6" to 55'-9" and required logs to extend at both the deck and roof level for joinery condition and overhang. The bridges were prefabricated and pre-stained at our facility, log trusses were shipped assembled and installed on-site. Remaining decking, handrails and roofing were installed in 10 working days per span.
